David Baldacci has written 50+ books。 The Edge is his 2nd book with the 6:20 Man。“CIA Operative, Jenny Silkwell, is murdered。 Officials are worried about State secrets on her missing phone and laptop。 Travis Devine is sent to find her killer and protect government interests。 But the small town is full of secrets。”Baldacci writes with great pace in this book。 There’s always something happening。 Lots of tension between Travis and everyone in town including law enforcement。 No one wants to look at David Baldacci has written 50+ books。 The Edge is his 2nd book with the 6:20 Man。“CIA Operative, Jenny Silkwell, is murdered。 Officials are worried about State secrets on her missing phone and laptop。 Travis Devine is sent to find her killer and protect government interests。 But the small town is full of secrets。”Baldacci writes with great pace in this book。 There’s always something happening。 Lots of tension between Travis and everyone in town including law enforcement。 No one wants to look at any inconsistencies and this makes you question everyone。 I thought I knew the killer。 Then I was convinced l knew。 But I was wrong 😑 There’s a small side story that sets up a future book。Another great story from Baldacci。 。。。more
Karen,
Loved it。 Thought I knew who done it but then there was a little twist。 Really like this new character/ series。 Love the determination and thinking of Devine。

Julie,
This is better than the first one in the series。 I was disappointed some of the people I liked from 6:20 are not in this book。 Wonder if the same will happen in #3。。。
Pauline Spurlock,
Great read。 I found this book very enjoyable and couldn’t put it down。 I’ll have to try the first book in this series。
Siddhartha,
There is a statement in the book “How do you know so much about knot tying?”The same can be asked about David Baldacci。 His research about the details in the plot is stupendous。Like his every other series, Travis Devine series is another page-turner。 I still haven’t been able to comprehend how one author can create so many characters which are so different from one another, but still able to provide thrill to the storylines。 Can’t wait for Travis Devine # 3。
John,
This thriller immediately jumps into the fire。 In the first few pages there is fractured vertebrae, gouged eyes, compromised trachea …。and the list goes on。 Lesson to be learned: Leave the man on the train alone, even if you are with peers。Devine is a very busy fellow in this novel。 He is fighting two battle fronts。 One is the murder in a small town in Maine which could lead to national security issues。 The other is a group of extremely talented individuals that would like to help with his demis This thriller immediately jumps into the fire。 In the first few pages there is fractured vertebrae, gouged eyes, compromised trachea …。and the list goes on。 Lesson to be learned: Leave the man on the train alone, even if you are with peers。Devine is a very busy fellow in this novel。 He is fighting two battle fronts。 One is the murder in a small town in Maine which could lead to national security issues。 The other is a group of extremely talented individuals that would like to help with his demise。 My head was spinning keeping up with this dual pathway。It kind of boils down to one question …。 who is telling the truth。 This is a very worthy read。 I found myself letting my other books go so I could spend time finding the end results of this book。 Baldacci … you did it again。 Another excellent read。 Those of you on GR that are into action packed thrillers should make this your next read。 。。。more

I really like Travis Devine and look forward to the next chapter in his life!
Aaron,
Another great book by Baldacci。 Enjoyed the further adventures of the character developed in “the 6:20 Man” can’t wait for the next installment
Don Gorman,
(3 1/2)。 Baldacci is in fine form here。 I barely remember the first 6:20 man book but this one is a keeper。 It rocks right from the very start。 We just peel back layers endlessly, and Travis Devine is just the man to put all the pieces together。 Yes, he is a badass, but we mostly see that in survival skills as his cranial capacities here are far more important than his physical abilities。 Just a touch of sap, but nothing to keep me from marking it up to 4 stars。 Well done, David。 Good stuff。
Thomas S,
I have read all the Baldacci books and also read Clancy, Greaney, and Jack Carr about military and former military guys figuring out mysteries and beating up and outsmarting the bad guys。 This book should be right up my alley。 The first half was a little slow, but the 2nd half of the book makes up for it and it is a good series。 This is my spoiler free and summary free review of The Edge。 I do like Travis from the 6:20 man and I am very thankful that Baldacci keep creating new characters instead I have read all the Baldacci books and also read Clancy, Greaney, and Jack Carr about military and former military guys figuring out mysteries and beating up and outsmarting the bad guys。 This book should be right up my alley。 The first half was a little slow, but the 2nd half of the book makes up for it and it is a good series。 This is my spoiler free and summary free review of The Edge。 I do like Travis from the 6:20 man and I am very thankful that Baldacci keep creating new characters instead of giving us book 20 from one of his first series。 The characters work, the action is good, I can keep track of the story well, it just starts a little slow for me and then gets better。 For the sake of no spoilers, if you are a Baldacci fan, yes read this book, same if you are a fan of other thriller writers I mentioned before。 If you have read some of the Baldacci books and gave up on others, and did not read the 6:20 man this one should be OK to read。 If you like a mystery more than an Action book this should be an good book for you。 There are elements of both but at it core it is a who done it。 If you think this is a Mountain climbing book, then go find another book。 。。。more

Kate McMaugh,
Did not like this as much as 6。20 man。 Harder to get into and seemed a little formulaic。 But readable for a bit of escapism。
Linda,
Good read, as always
Kay,

You kept me guessing Another terrific novelHave virtually all。Thank you
Mandy,
Another good solid read from the author。 I enjoy the Divine character quite a bit。It was more slow burning than I’m used to from this author though and it wasn’t as hard to put down。All these deaths and NO ONE got suspicious? In a town of 300?!?I figured out who did it a LONG time before Divine did。
Paul,
I was looking forward to this second installment of this newest series with Travis Devine。 The first book begins with him on a train, commuting to NYC and a thankless job。 This one begins on a train, but was more like those Bond movie prequels where Bond wipes out a few bad guys before getting into the thick of the movie。Same thing here, as Devine is quickly tasked to investigate the murder of a CIA operative who returns to her hometown。 Here the book starts to take off。 Still some annoying Bald I was looking forward to this second installment of this newest series with Travis Devine。 The first book begins with him on a train, commuting to NYC and a thankless job。 This one begins on a train, but was more like those Bond movie prequels where Bond wipes out a few bad guys before getting into the thick of the movie。Same thing here, as Devine is quickly tasked to investigate the murder of a CIA operative who returns to her hometown。 Here the book starts to take off。 Still some annoying Baldaccisms, like people barking and stilted dialog, but the book improves as it progresses。 3。5 rounded up to 4, worth a look。 。。。more

4。5 Stars。 Another excellent read from David Baldacci! Engaging, intriguing, thrilling - all the aspects you expect from a novel of this genre。 The protagonist is traditional in many ways while portraying a retired Army Ranger, but also different, with a complex set of ideas and values。The plot of the story kept evolving as the chapters flew by, and I could not help but be captivated by the ever developing narrative。If you're a fan of David Baldacci, this genre, or have read the first book of th 4。5 Stars。 Another excellent read from David Baldacci!
